After my disappointment with the showers at the Corps Of Engineers Texas Dam Site Campsite, I got an awesome breakfast at the Main Street Diner in Dennison Texas.
While heading toward the Texas/Oklahoma border on Texas Farm Market Road 120 I had to make a U-Turn and go back and see what caught my eye. The Smith Mercantile Hillbilly Museum had all kinds of neat stuff displayed out in their front yard, from a hearse to classic cars. Very cool! Two block North was another neat find, Metal Art in a parking lot from dinosaurs to minions welded from discarded parts. The Carpenters Bluff Bridge has been on my bucket list for a long time and I Finally got to see it today. I was not disappointed, except for the graffiti on the bridge and trash around the area. Also idiots with guns shooting up the Historical Marker, it just pisses me off when people do stupid things like that! I love this bridge and it was my highlight of the day! If you ever get a chance to swing by and check out this historical bridge, it’s well worth the stop.
When I got to Bonham Texas I was surprised to see that the Fannin courthouse was under restoration. I’ll have to come back and check this one out it looks like it’s going to be an awesome looking courthouse. Another neat find in Bonham Texas that caught my eye was the First Christian Church. It has this Awesome dome on the roof and some beautiful stain glass around the church. Next time I’m in town I’ll have to schedule a tour next time I’m in town.
Was really hoping to campout at the Bonham Texas State Park, but all the campsite were closed for remodel. I ended up parking for the night at the Walmart park lot in Bonham Texas after watch the Dallas Cowboy lose at the local Dairy Queen. Awesome ride for the day!
