Beveridge Bridge • San Saba Texas Trip

One mile North of The Wedding Oak Tree’s in San Saba Texas we stopped at this really cool suspension bridge that spans the San Saba river. John H. Beveridge established the first crossing of the San Saba River at this location for the transportation of local crops to market. Texas bridge builder Flinn-Moyer of Weatherford assembled this 140-foot bridge in 1891. It has survived three majors floods and has been rebuilt three times. it was closed to vehicle traffic in 2004 and a new concrete bridge was built beside it.
